It appears that we were not clear about the content for the Art Contest being held by the PSA Fundraising Committee.

The art is not required to incorporate the words Mediterranean Nights, nor is it required to reflect the theme. We will include the words and incorporate the theme on the cover of the program if the winning art does not do either. We just want to reflect the spirit of community in the program by using student art.

Our only requirement is that it fits on a piece of paper no larger than 8 1/2 X 11. Ultimately, the art that gets the most votes during the polling period will be the winner!

Volunteers Needed for Winter Boutique!

The Winter Boutique is this Saturday, December 6, from 10 am - 4 pm.

If you are looking for a chance to add to your volunteer hours, here are two easy ways to do so!

1. Volunteers are needed to help out during the boutique; you can volunteer in a two or four hour shift. We will be staffing a Lunch Cafe and Carnival Games for kids.

2. Make a baked good for our cafe! Yes, due to popular demand, we are continuing the Winter Boutique Bake Sale. Please do not package your baked goods; just leave them as is in the bake pan! We'll package everything up at the Cafe.

Contact Jorgi Stever at 619-855-1994 or fundraising@sdccs.org if you are interested.

Can't wait to see you there!

My Company Will Give me WHAT??!?

Did you know that many major corporations (and some not so major) will match employee contributions non profit organizations? Being as SDCCS is a non profit organization, this is a painless way to double the amount of money you can contribute!

So how does one find out if their employer participates in this kind of thing? The easiest thing for you to do would be to ask someone in your HR department.

Here is a list of companies we compiled that do participate in this kind of matching gift program. So if you work for one of these companies, hop to it! Don't delay!

Goodbye Pizza Monday
Hello Nacho Thursday!

Well, Nacho Thursday is not the official name, but it is catchy, isn't it?

Pizza Monday is no more. The recent changes to the state code of health and different laws about school lunches (I am apologizing in advance for not writing down the numbers of the acts passed and the names of the laws as Dr Wendy went over them - email me at fundraising@sdccs.org if you need me to get them to you) means that we are no longer serving pizza as a lunch option on Monday afternoons.

From a fundraising perspective, this is pretty important as Pizza Monday raised just over $3000 last year. We are looking to fill that hole with sales of different hot snack items and drinks on Thursday afternoons, right after school lets out at 1230.

So, here you are, reading this and asking "How can I help?" I'm here to tell you how you can help! Be a hero and volunteer for 1 and 1/2 hours on a Thursday afternoon, from 1200 - 1:30 pm. We are looking for three people to help out on a pretty regular basis, at least one Thursday a month but possibly two. One person would be taking orders and money, and the other two people would be putting together the orders of food and passing them along.
Contact us at fundraising@sdccs.org if you are interested in gaining valuable volunteer hours!

Time is running out to get in on the early ticket purchase drawing for the SDCCS Annual Shindig. This year's theme is Mediterranean Nights.

The shindig will be held Saturday, March 14, from 6-11pm, at Marina Village on Mission Bay. This adults only event is not only a fun way to support SDCCS but a vital part of our fundraising efforts.

If you buy your tickets before Sept 30th you will be entered into two fantastic drawings.

The first drawing will have two winners, and they will be announced at the October PSA meeting (Oct 1) and contacted if they are not at the meeting. Each winner will receive a $30 iTunes gift card.

The second drawing will have one winner, and will be announced at the Shindig, March 14th. The deadline for this drawing is December 19, 2008. One winner will receive a $100 gift certificate to The Starlite Lounge. This is a fantastic place and the Chef has ties to SDCCS (be sure to ask Ms. Bell about The Chef!)

Order forms for the tickets are available at the SDCCS fundraising page Don't wait any longer!!!!!
